This is, by far, the most impressive, centrally located, beautiful house we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in through AirBnB.

The location is in the cathedral quarter of Lincoln City and we honestly don’t think you’ll find anything better placed (if you’re after the Old England feel of traditional sweet shops, castles and ale houses)! Think Dickens novel, and you’re there! The entire strip consists of cobbled streets and independent businesses with the more modern, mainstream offerings of the main city centre only a 10-12 minute walk away. Be warned though, the house is just off Steep Hill - so make sure you know what you’re in for when you book. That hill is not for the faint of heart but was absolutely worth tackling each day to explore the immense number of treasures it leads to.

The kids loved the archaeology museum at the bottom of the hill and the castle and cathedral at the top. We also enjoyed all the little chocolatiers, boutiques, fossil shops, book shops and cheese and ale shops in between (special mention to Annoushka Russian Doll shop where my daughter bought a set of paint-your-own dolls).

The house itself is over three floors and is immaculate, cosy, and a lovely size with a little courtyard for breakfasts in the sun before strolling into town. Easily sleeps six, and is dog-friendly (how often do you find a luxury/high quality holiday abode which allows dogs?!).

The whole transaction and booking process was smooth and straightforward. Joy was so helpful and attentive, responding to any queries quickly, politely and clearly - quite literally a joy to deal with. The icing on the cake for us, was actually the little details and considerations such as the pint of milk and tea/coffee on arrival with a supply of dishwasher tablets and washing powder etc. if needed.

Also, the provision of luxury shower and bath products for guests to use was a pleasant surprise! These may not seem like a big deal for some, but as a family of four with two primary school age children, it’s these details that really make a difference.

We’ve bookmarked this one, as we’d like to return with my parents one day soon. Thank you, Joy!
